What could be nicer than rounding out an evening at the Maloe Melo club, a legendary club that has played live blues and roots music every night for the last 25 years in the popular Jordaan quarter? The atmosphere is always good and the drinks are cheap!
Popular with all ages
After dinner with friends, head to Maloe Melo. Inside, you will find yourself in a small venue with a low ceiling, where it feels as though the audience is also on stage. One thing is certain for the musicians: it's not the place to get it wrong! Whether you're going for a "jam session" or a concert, the audience is always varied and enthusiastic. Be sure to take a look inside!
Talent by the bucket-load
At Maloe Melo, there are no celebrities, only musicians. Even though some blues or rock legends come along regularly to jam as a wind down after an official gig, it's always discreet and modest. Their portraits adorn the walls of the establishment, with Patti Smith, Doug Sahm amongst them as well as a very young Bruce Springsteen - they've all been here. The club is a veritable breeding ground for talent. Groups are created there, they make their debut and reinvent blues, rock and even ska or punk. Although Maloe Melo prides itself on being the “home of the blues”, it is open to all genres.
Open 7 days a week, 21:00-03:00 during the week and to 04:00 on weekends. Free entry.
