Alliance Eurostar - Thalys: the message from our CEO

Dear customers,


Eurostar and Thalys, who have shared a common goal since their inception and who connect Europeans across the borders, have contributed to a revolution in the world of transport in Europe in the past 25 years, by providing fast and easy links between city centres across 5 countries.

Your requests have always made us evolve, they kept raising the bar. Never before have your requests for an increasingly sustainable mobility have been this big. This morning, the parent companies have announced their project to bring Eurostar and Thalys closer together. You can find the press release here in which the wish is expressed to establish an ecologic, sustainable high-speed network together and to offer more and more innovative and comfortable alternatives to air and road transport in the coming years, made to measure. An offer that uses renewable energy, with simplified international routes, attractive fares offers, a common loyalty program, and multicultural, warm and attentive services.

Everything still needs to be constructed: it’s a promising project we have in front of us. The terms of this alliance aren’t fixed yet and will be subject to all the necessary consultations. At Thalys, we’ll contribute with all our energy and our sense of service. This will take as long as necessary, to ensure that the results are the best as possible for you.

In this context, it will take time, a lot of work and all the necessary authorisations, for our companies to start to converge. For numerous legal and operational reasons, no convergence of our offers and services will be possible until this process is finished. We hope thus that you’ll await these changes with enthusiasm, but without impatience :-), because it will take many long months.
