A botanical gardenThe garden is located at the edge of the centre of Rotterdam and you must know it’s there otherwise you won’t find it. I discovered this place in the summer for the first time and was really surprised because the garden is so large and beautiful. You definitely wouldn’t expect such a peaceful green place in the city.

Very idyllic

The Trompenburg Garden hiking park at Rotterdam Kralingen is lovely. Here you will discover sumptuous old trees (the park was planted in 1820) and plants and flowers that you will see while walking along the winding path. It’s all very idyllic and very soothing when you are here. For the real fanatics, they have planted nameplates next to the plants and trees, so you can see what grows and flourishes here.

There’s more to discover

There is also a greenhouse in the middle of the park, which covers seven hectares, where all kinds of exotic plants from dry places are found. After seeing so much green outside, this is a totally different world. After you’ve seen all of this, you can have a drink at The Uithoek, a tea room open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Check their agenda

Check out the events agenda before you go to Trompenburg garden. They sometimes organise nice events like the yearly Christmas market and classical music concerts.

Opening hoursMonday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pmSaturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
