The hotel is suited in a very nice district in the centre of Rotterdam called Scheepvaartkwartier (shipping quarter). Here you find large and expensive old typical Rotterdam buildings and a small harbour with big old ships. Quartier Du Port is a small hotel with only twenty rooms. They are spacious, have all 4 star needs like air conditioning, television, wirelesses Internet and have a luxury bathroom.

Winding stairs

The lobby of the hotel brings back old memories. It’s not hard to imagine seeing strong sailors walking through the small corridor with its old wooden floor and tiles at the wall. A small ticket window serves nowadays as reception. Upstairs you find the marvellous bedrooms that are decorated in French style and have a terrace or French balcony. Don’t take the old metallic elevator when you go to your room. Just put your suitcase in it and take the winding stairs, much nicer!
It’s not only a hotel
Quartier Du Port is not only a hotel: it’s much more ! They have an excellent restaurant. So reserve one night out to eat here and not somewhere else (although there are lots of fine restaurants in the neighbourhood). For the real diehards, try the cooking workshop at the basement and make your own delicious meal. In need for some fresh baked bread? Next too the hotel you find a nice bakkery where they sell many different types of bread and other sweets. So don’t pass.

I work in communications and have kept an on-line fashion journal for years. I'll show you around Rotterdam, my home town, a magical place open on the world. Sparkling restaurants, deliciously hidden between sea and sky. My little extra: globetrotter and multi-lingual
