Wally trollies allow visitors to get to know the city from a different, family-friendly perspective. Children in particular love the nostalgic feeling in the small carriages. With this in mind: All aboard please, the train is leaving!

"Here comes the choo-choo!"

Wolters wally trollies are simply an intrinsic part of the Cologne landscape nowadays. The main routes are called "Chocolate Express" and "Zoo Express". The journey usually starts by going directly to Cathedral Square, immediately adjoining Cologne's main railway station. This is useful not only for rail customers, but also families with small children and those who are no longer as mobile as they once were. The destination of the chocolate express is the Chocolate Museum. Here, it stops directly at the swing bridge. The Zoo Express stops at the main entrance to Cologne's zoo. What do the folk of Cologne shout when the wally trolley is coming? You've got it: "Here comes the choo-choo!"

A train journey which is fun

While the passengers relax and let the sights glide past them, the tape dispenses its wisdom: in German and English. Another advantage of wally trollies: They also operate on roads which are out of bounds to buses as well as to cars - such as the historic Altstadt [the city's old quarter]. An extension to the modern Rheinau harbour is planned for 2014. And anyone who wants to stand out a bit can simply plan his own wally trolley ride. What about, say, with a marriage, a tour of a brewery or an escape from the daily grind in the green and yellow trains?

Jens, 30 TRENDY ADVERTISER

I've always loved Cologne. The city is industrial and romantic at the same time. I love my city for its galleries, classical concerts and elegant restaurants and its traditional and very trendy bars! My little extra: I love words, the arts and literature!
