The easily accessible Stadtwald (literally "city forest") is the ideal spot for a stroll or a cycle to get you closer to the animal kingdom.

Tranquillity for the people

The Stadtwald is ideally located at the heart of the urban space, north of the residential and student Lindenthal district, and is perfect for a spur-of-the-moment ramble.
On weekends this urban forest attracts families on two wheels and offers enough space for everyone to stroll about in complete tranquillity surrounded by trees or on the shores of the lake.

A varied programme

The Stadtwald encourages you to take your time, do some reading on one of the many benches or explore its trails idly chatting with friends. Sports enthusiasts can head off through the woods by bike or on foot, while foodies can enjoy an ice-cream on the outdoor terrace. Animal lovers can meet the slightly timid fauna to be found in the ponds (great crested grebes, ducks, etc.) or head to see the goats, sheep, peacocks and other residents of the animal park. Something for everyone !
Animal park opening times (free entry):
Open all year round from 8 am (Mon-Sat) and 9 am on Sunday.
Closing times vary according to season: 6 pm (March and October), 7 pm (April and September) and 8 pm (May, June, July and August).

I'm a translator and editor for several publications and I love the hidden side of the city, its secret gardens, its discrete gourmet restaurants and its new, high-design spots. Outings with my friends end late at night. My little extra: a dynamic, fun and really trendy Cologne!
