The Stadtgarten Christmas market, nestled at the heart of the Belgian district, is a must during the festive season. With its cosy atmosphere and original stands, it's an ideal spot to become reacquainted with the joys of winter!

Unmissable winter destination

From mid-November onwards, several districts in Cologne adapt to the rhythm of their Christmas markets, which attract visitors in their thousands. These hotbeds of winter warmth are perfect for get-togethers after work to sip a mulled wine* or browse for Christmas gifts – often a little on the kitsch side.

A Christmas market with a difference

The Stadtgarten market, away from the crowded markets of the city centre, offers a more convivial and trendy setting than its competitors. But with some 70 stands and ever more word-of-mouth recommendations, this "small" market has quickly become rather big! At weekends crowds squeeze between stands run by artisans, designers and local boutiques. And if you're hungry, fear not: crispy waffles, delicious raclette portions (served on a chunk of bread) and organic mulled wine are enough to satisfy the most demanding gourmet customer!

I'm a translator and editor for several publications and I love the hidden side of the city, its secret gardens, its discrete gourmet restaurants and its new, high-design spots. Outings with my friends end late at night. My little extra: a dynamic, fun and really trendy Cologne!
