At the Feynsinn, a lot of thought has gone into the decor, as well as the origin of the products: “fair trade” coffee, organic ingredients and an attractive, reasonably priced menu featuring local products!
The first time I went to the Feynsinn was during the semi-finals of the World Cup. While the other bars in the neighbourhood were packed, this elegant little café still had a few vacant seats. In fact, its pleasant and airy interior, with its massive chandeliers, made from pieces of glass and bottle racks, is not really suitable for crowds of rowdy football fans. The clientele includes many women who like to gather and chat over a plate of Mediterranean food or read the paper during breakfast.
As for the food, you will appreciate its originality and focus on the quality and origin of the products. Most of the ingredients are organic, regional or from production channels that help preserve nature and species. Feynsinn likes to work directly with producers, getting involved in a Mexican fair trade coop and setting up its own pig and cattle farms. It is a concept that is committed but not “purist”, so you will also find conventional and branded beverages on the (long) drinks menu. No need to wait for the next World Cup to stop by for a visit!
Open Monday to Friday from 9am to 1am, Saturday from 9:30am to 2 am and Sunday from 10am to 1am.
I'm a translator and editor for several publications and I love the hidden side of the city, its secret gardens, its discrete gourmet restaurants and its new, high-design spots. Outings with my friends end late at night. My little extra: a dynamic, fun and really trendy Cologne!
