At the end of another exhausting day, I simply can’t return home without stopping off at the Parc du Cinquantenaire, whose wide paths are perfect for aimless strolling and shedding negative thoughts.

The power of stone

The statues dotted around this imposing park provide some welcome coolness in the summer and shelter from the wind in the winter. Here, everything encourages the senses to wander. I like to free up my sense of touch, passing my hand over the stones, and sit on the lawn breathing peacefully with my mobile firmly off. And if you listen, you’ll hear the surge of the fountain blurring any contact with the real world.

Reading beneath a chestnut tree

Before returning to the fray, what better than a good book in the shade of a chestnut tree? This 37 ha park has more than 400 of them. I recommend those near the Arc de Triomphe, where the view is superb. Just make sure the husks are not ready to fall – I'm speaking from experience!

Open all year round.

I'm mad about food. I'm a Brussels native by adoption and I started a fun and girly cooking blog. I decrypt all of the new trends that will eventually show up in your plate! My little extra: surprising culinary discoveries I share with you with great zest and appetite.
