La Maison de la Bande Dessinée chose the city centre as its location. Comic books (bande dessinée, or “BD”) remain extremely popular in Belgium, up there with chocolate and chips. For fans of this art form, this is a key address.

More than just Tintin

It's never too late to discover the world of BD, which is not only aimed at children. If that's what you think then you have much to learn. Here, BDs for young and old alike are to be found on the same shelves: special editions, English and Dutch publications, and a large selection of mangas. Not to mention Tintin, of course, available in nearly 70 languages.

Behind the speech bubbles

All year round, temporary exhibitions are organised here. These offer a great opportunity to delve deeper into the life of a particular character, illustrator or writer, with draft sketches and even original sets on display, along with anecdotes for context. When you're ready to leave, it’s hard not to be tempted by that special something!

Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.

I'm mad about food. I'm a Brussels native by adoption and I started a fun and girly cooking blog. I decrypt all of the new trends that will eventually show up in your plate! My little extra: surprising culinary discoveries I share with you with great zest and appetite.
