Odeon is a restaurant, bar and club, which offers a wide range of possibilities for night birds. Following its recent spectacular refurbishment, it offers the opportunity for even better nights out, whether you’re into music, dancing or just a party-atmosphere.

A rich cultural heritage

The Odeon opened in 1663, and quickly became one of the city’s most popular brasseries. In 1830, this versatile space became Amsterdam’s first real concert hall, changing its roles over the following decades: as a cinema, auction house and discothèque, its intriguing transformations have been a constant since it was first founded. People go there for a bit of fun and to let their hair down a bit. The common factor between all its incarnations is probably its subtly decadent air, which you can still feel in its walls today.

A hideout for foodies and hedonists

The Odeon’s mainly well-behaved business customers are quick to let their hair down when the weekend arrives. The DJ nights on Fridays and Saturdays are the most popular. I always like watching the changing attitudes shown by different people; fairly restrained at first and then increasingly excited. Though there are all sorts of different discothèques in Amsterdam, I really like the lack of boundaries at the Odeon, which you can recognise in the people who go there as well as in its décor, which is fairly baroque and imposing.

Open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5 pm to midnight.
