Conceived by the Dutch architecture firm MVRDV, the Silodam is an odd-looking apartment complex. Anchored at the end of a spit of land extending into the IJ River, it could easily be mistaken for a container ship.

A kaleidoscope of styles

Seen from afar, the single block unit exudes power and strength. However, the apparent density is misleading. Closer up, it becomes a many-coloured canvas that combines infinite styles and materials. Silodam’s nine stories contain 160 flats and 600 m2 of office space. They provide residents with 17 different neighbourhoods, each with their own special personality. There's something for everyone! From simple flats to luxury penthouses to artist studios and duplexes with verandas: an incredible range of sizes, layouts, openings and accesses is available. Those who want can even dock their boat under the stilts holding up the building.

Guided tour

Silodam is a clever mix of residential and industrial aesthetics that provides residents with beautiful views of the IJ. You could nearly forget it's there when you look at the building from the nearby dock. If you want, you can take one of the guided tours organised by the residents on a regular basis! It's an opportunity to make new friends...

Romain, 35 ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

I love Amsterdam's open spirit. It's easy to meet people and have rich, interesting conversations. The heart of the city is bubbling over with cultural initiatives, secret restaurants and nature routes that relax you in no time. I want to share it all with you!
