A romantic interlude in a busy capital, the Windketel, the smallest hotel in Amsterdam, offers a design furnished apartment on three levels intended to accommodate two people.

For an amorous weekend

In this octagonal tower bordered by a small garden, that was once used as a decompression area for the water pumping station that adjoined it, couples can meet and unwind after the whirlwind of the day. Relaxation is guaranteed! As the tower is located in the centre of a square surrounded by modern buildings and renovated apartments, the nearest are twenty or so metres away, and so there is no risk of any early morning assault on the eardrums. The area is in fact also restricted to pedestrian and cycle traffic. When you arrive, simply collect the key from Liesbeth, one of the 9(!) shareholders and owners of this unusual hotel, who lives nearby, and your stay can begin.

Practical and comfortable

For €325 for 2 nights (the minimum booking), you have at your disposal a fully equipped kitchen, an attractive sitting room and a bedroom with a large, comfortable bed and a mini bathroom. Towels, household linen and sheets are included in the price. No need to bring everything with you! There is free internet but the fridge is empty. Which is no problem, because when you go shopping you will get to know the very welcoming district of Westerpark, a quarter of an hour on foot from the city centre. And if you have no wish to cook for yourself, there is a very reasonably-priced restaurant just opposite, behind the water tower.
Booking recommended well in advance.

Laurence, 46 a cool mum

I’m the mother of two supercharged children. I’ve also been living a great love affair with Holland for the past 20 years! I’ll take you to places in Amsterdam that will make you feel good, where the products and the welcome are high quality and where, most importantly, you’ll never stress out. Ready to go?
