Due to work on the high-speed line in The Netherlands, trains will not stop at the Schiphol station.

The Schiphol station can only be reached by local trains departing from Rotterdam. To reach Paris, Brussels or Antwerp, you must purchase a ticket from Rotterdam. Print then your travel confirmation to travel free between Rotterdam and Schiphol. This will be your ticket.

I love to own unique and original items, but I like picturing myself in a new space in which I can arrange the rooms as I see fit even more. In the meantime, however, I like to visit Droog from time to time, which is a shop and gallery.

Design and surprise

Droog is a shop which is arranged like a gallery, where most items on show are unique, signed, and exorbitantly-priced! It is mainly the furniture which takes you by surprise. These items are highly original, and you’d need to be quite daring to have them in your own home. They are often beautiful and even ingenious things, but the prices will give you something to think about…
Droog was born in Amsterdam and is now proud to have shops in New York and Las Vegas (of course!) It adapts its sales outlets to its customers. Meanwhile, I like to come and gaze at these lovely things.

Great gift ideas

Among the variety of objects on show, there are also everyday items at affordable prices. I couldn’t resist the crushed cups, but there are some gifts that I’d ask Father Christmas for, such as the wineglass doorbell, or the table tap, as well as all sorts of interesting art deco pieces.

The shop is in a pleasant alleyway in Amsterdam, very close to a picture postcard scene (a bell tower at the end of a canal), which is characteristic of the city. It’s quite different from bustling about in the city’s plethora of mass market shops.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 am to 6 pm, Sundays from midday to 5 pm

I spend a lot of time in front of the computer, but I prefer to be followed on a bicycle than on Twitter. I love Amsterdam for...its little streets, riches, treasures and all of the spots where you can get a really good beer. Follow the guide! My little extra: discovering nature
