The Miroir d’eau

An aquatic spectacle right on the quay in Bordeaux, to be gazed upon to your heart's content.

An invitation to relax

Some 3,450 metres square of granite covered with 2 cm of water creating a mirror effect that will take your breath away, followed by a mesmerising wall of mist! Tricky to remain impassive in front of such a spectacle which has enchanted both the residents of Bordeaux and tourists alike since its inauguration in 2006.

Technical prowess

The water is held in a 800 m3 reservoir, located under the slab. A pump system brings the water up to the surface where it fills a hundred small channels located beneath the slab. Then, it seeps through the joints to gradually fill the surface of the mirror.

Designed by the fountain engineer, Jean-Max Llorca, this veritable feat of technical prowess is an unmissable site when travelling to Bordeaux. It's the perfect spot to take superb photos as well as take a paddle in the water. Something that little kids and big kids both enjoy!
