The Erasmus Bridge
Symbol of the Rotterdam landscape
The Erasmus Bridge is quite the eye catcher in the city of Rotterdam. This is particularly the case on sunny days when this beautiful white construction stands out against the blue sky. Once on the bridge, the scenery from the bridge itself is also extraordinary. For a truly magical view, go at sunset, when the city is adorned with lights…
This bridge over the Meuse was built in 1996. It links the city centre to the south of Rotterdam. Its 139 metre curved pylon lends it a swan-like appearance, which is how it earned its nickname. You can spot it by car, tram, bike or on foot. Certainly, don't leave Rotterdam without crossing this eye-catching structure!
Events are regularly organised on and around the bridge. And, each year, thousands of runners cross the bridge together during the Rotterdam marathon. On New Year's Eve, a fabulous fireworks display is set off here. Thousands of people come from all over the country to watch the show from the quay.
