Current Coronavirus situation - Exceptional commercial measures

All Thalys employees are committed to supporting you and answering your questions during this period.

Exceptional commercial measures

For all canceled trains: You can postpone your journey - without additional costs - up to 1 year after the original travel date.

In order to do so, you need to keep your original ticket and only contact our call center as soon as the sales for your new travel dates are open (about 4 months before departure).
These measures apply to our entire network, for all reservations already made (the exchange relates only to the travel date and not to the departure or arrival station).

Please do not try to exchange or cancel your tickets on our website, as these exceptional conditions are not applied online.

  • For tickets purchased on www.thalys.com, you can contact our Contact Center:
    • From Belgium : +32 2 808 19 17
    • From France : +33 1 83 75 49 69
    • From Germany : +49 6 21 37 90 91 44
    • From The Netherlands : +31 30 23 000 23
  • For tickets purchased through other channels, please contact your initial point of sale.

You can also ask our Call Center for a refund of your tickets if you were to travel on a train that was cancelled between 10/03 and 29/08/2020. You have up to 1 month after the scheduled departure of your train to request this refund.

Thalys offers you more flexibility in the light of this uncertain context:

Did you purchase a ticket between March 10th and April 30th , for a trip in May, June or July 2020? Thalys offers you the possibility to exchange or refund your ticket at no additional cost, and this up to 30 days before the departure date mentioned on the initial ticket.

For any purchase made from May 1st, Thalys offers you the possibility to exchange your ticket at no additional cost, and this up to 30 days before the departure date mentioned on the initial ticket, from June onwards. This measure also applies to trains that are not cancelled. You can now book with more serenity.

In this context, please be aware that:

  • It is no longer possible to buy tickets at the ticket counters of Paris Nord station or on board.
  • Our Premium offer is unavailable until further notice to comply with social distancing measures

Wearing face masks becomes mandatory on board

To follow the guidelines of the Belgian authorities, Thalys will impose the wearing of face masks (homemade, surgical or respiratory) on all passengers boarding our trains from May 4th onwards. You will find all information about our health safety measures here : Health Safety.

International travel from abroad to mainland France

Since Wednesday, April 8th, a procedure verifying the international movement of people from abroad has been in place.

Anyone wishing to enter the territory of France, also in the context of a transit, must present a certificate of urgent/necessary international traffic to France at the border

A control of the certificates will be carried out in Paris Nord by the Border Police and any passenger unable to present this certificate will be fined.

These measures apply in accordance with the instructions of the French Prime Minister.

Adjusted timetable between 04/04 and 29/08 2020
