In a nutshell...
From Montmartre to the Batignolles
Montmartre, one of Paris' most celebrated neighborhoods, is unmistakable thanks to its hilltop setting dominated by Sacre Cour and the famous Moulin Rouge just below. The vineyards and windmills that once occupied the hill were an inspiration to painters like Georges Michel and Utrillo. To this day, artists continue to stake their positions on the famous Tertre Place. Bars, nightclubs and cabarets unite to make Montmartre a trendy place to go out for theater and dance, glitter and glamour.
Batignolles was the site that would have welcomed the Olympics in 2012 but with London having won the honor, the renovation projects were dropped. Nevertheless, this neighborhood took advantage of the opportunity to gain some renown; top establishments here are a great place to take a break from the surging energy at the Place de Clichy. This busy crossroads is the site of numerous movie theaters, concert halls, plays as well as bars and restaurants.
