Few hours in the South Canal Belt

Herengracht, on the western part of the Canal Belt, familiarly called the "Golden Curve," is the place to go to admire beuatiful private residences, richly constructed and decorated. Traditional Dutch architectural style still dominates these mansions, however the French influence of Louis XIV, Louis XV, and Louis XVI styles is blatent. During the day, it is a nice walk to take under the shade of large trees. At night, a lively ambiance takes over the canals around Rembrandtsplein as soon as the first street lamp is illuminated.
