Belgium: Brussels

In a nutshell...

Known as the capital of comic strips, Brussels is also unique for its mix of modern buildings and Art Nouveau style homes.

An animated and festive city, it is not rare to witness a fanfare or a parade in the Grand Place nor is it uncommon to see the Mannekenpis being adomed in a new costume; Brussels is a city for walking.
The city is spread out, with 19 districts depicting many different faces of the capital. Ixelles is famous for its nightlife, where Saint-Gilles, particularly the Maison Horta, is popular with those who are interested in Art Nouveau.
Truly European in character, Brussels offers all the Belgian specialities, from beer to waffles, but Italian and French dishes are also popular. This is a city where everyone can find something of interest.

Travels in Folon country
A cultural & touristic itinerary
25/04 > 28/09/2008

Copyright Folon : Fondation Folon

There is no need to present Jean-Michel Folon : this artist with an international reputation was a man of great conviction and talent, and his work is widely recognized.

This is a real itinerary, blending the (re)discovery of Folon’s work with that of our landscapes, cities and villages, available from 25 April onwards. This discovery trail, based on the works on show at the Folon Foundation and during various temporary events, will highlight some well-known and lesser known aspects of the artist, from Knokke to Marche-en-Famenne.

The epicentre of this event is naturally the Folon Foundation itself, which will be organizing an exceptional exhibition of 40 sculptures against the green backdrop of Solvay Park.

Folon 2008, which includes a varied programme with numerous events in locations that are illuminated by the presence of the artist’s work, will be the cultural and touristic highlight of this year.
