WiFi - Internet access for everyone!
ThalysNet is available on board Thalys trains and can be accessed with your laptop or PDA who must be equipped with a WiFi functionality (802.11b/g compatible), which is the case with most laptops in Europe.
If your Internet session is interrupted or cut, you have to reconnect to the ThalysNet portal and will have to log on again to access the Internet from the ThalysNet portal.
If you are using a one-hour voucher (Comfort 2), be careful: you have to disconnect from your session if you do not want to lose credit time during an interruption to Internet. It might that you have to login again in order to be able to disconnect from your session.
Once your computer is connected to the train's ThalysNet Wireless network, open your Internet browser. You will be taken directly to the ThalysNet portal's homepage.
To access the Internet from the ThalysNet portal, you must first log on. The first time you use the service, you will be asked to create an account with your e-mail address and a password. Each time you subsequently use the service, you can immediately log on using your e-mail address and password.
If you are travelling in Comfort 2, you must first purchase user credit, either by paying online with a credit card, or by purchasing a prepaid card at the Thalys Bar.
To access the Internet from the ThalysNet portal, you must log on using your e-mail address and password.
If you have forgotten the e-mail address you used for your ThalysNet subscription, you can find it in the confirmation e-mail sent when you first registered. If you are unable to find this e-mail, send a contact form containing your request from the 'Contact us' page.
From the ThalysNet portal, access to the contact form does not require you to log on first and is free.
Please note that if you created an account before October 2008, you were asked for a login name. You can still use the name and e-mail address you gave at the time. If you created several login names for one e-mail address, only the last one created will have been kept.
If you have lost your password, click the 'Forgot password' link on the login banner. You will be asked to answer your secret question.
To connect your computer to the ThalysNet wireless network, the WiFi functionality must first be activated. In Windows XP, click on 'Start', then 'Control Panel'. Click on 'Network and Internet Connections' and then 'Network Connections'. In the list of connections that appears, right click on 'Network or Internet Connection'. In the pull-down list, check that your wireless network card has been activated. If it hasn't, you can activate it by clicking on it.
The network connection is established once you see an icon of a computer emitting waves to the right, in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. The icon must not be barred with a red cross, which would mean you are not connected to the wireless network.
To check your connection, place your mouse pointer on the icon to see the name of the wireless network to which you are connected. If the name ThalysNet appears, then your computer is correctly connected to the ThalysNet network.
- 7A. Step 1: You need to check your proxy server's configuration. To do this, open Internet Explorer. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. If no IP address in the current format appears, you must type in 'ipconfig space forward slash release': 'ipconfig .release'. Wait a few seconds then type in 'ipconfig space forward slash renew': 'ipconfig .renew'. After a few seconds, your IP address will adopt the correct form. Finally, type in 'exit' to close the window. Yes. To be activated, some firewalls must be connected directly to the Internet or to your company's secure network. On the ThalysNet network, you must first access the ThalysNet portal and log on before you can connect to the Internet.
The solution is to deactivate your firewall before beginning your ThalysNet network session. Once your session is open, you will have a full Internet connection and you can try to reactivate your firewall. However, you do not need to do so, as the ThalysNet network is already protected by a firewall.
Check the technical documentation for your laptop computer or PDA. Look for the terms WiFi, WIFI 802.11b.g. If your machine is already equipped with an Intel Centrino processor, it is automatically equipped with WiFi technology.
As long as your Apple Macintosh laptop computer is equipped with a WiFi functionality (WiFi 802.11b.g compatible), you can use it to access ThalysNet.
Yes, as long as it is WiFi 802.11b.g compatible, which is the case with most cards in Europe.

In other words, everything you can do from your home or office.
If your company allows you to connect your laptop computer to the company's network.
