Belgium: Brussels
Areas in the city:
In a nutshell...
Known as the capital of comic strips, Brussels is also unique for its mix of modern buildings and Art Nouveau style homes.
An animated and festive city, it is not rare to witness a fanfare or a parade in the Grand Place nor is it uncommon to see the Mannekenpis being adomed in a new costume; Brussels is a city for walking.
The city is spread out, with 19 districts depicting many different faces of the capital. Ixelles is famous for its nightlife, where Saint-Gilles, particularly the Maison Horta, is popular with those who are interested in Art Nouveau.
Truly European in character, Brussels offers all the Belgian specialities, from beer to waffles, but Italian and French dishes are also popular. This is a city where everyone can find something of interest.
Brussels : Shopping

All year long :
From Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 18:30
Sunday from 10:00 to 15:30
At the heart of the Sablon district, the Senses Art Nouveau shop was launched in 1998 for Art nouveau lovers, offering them a wide range of quality reproduction of Art Nouveau pieces and fashion accessories, all inspired by the style that Brussels is so famous for.
The shop, with its orange walls and decorated with wrought iron scrolls and small lights with hints of flowers and leafage, looks like a boudoir from the late 19th century. Here you will find exclusive glassware collections, silverware and candleholders on large, well-lit shelves.
At the back of the shop, the space is dedicated to a scarf collection in pleated silk and to jewellery designed by Isabelle Leloup, the shop founder. In order to keep the refinement of the Venetian pleat, each scarf must be coloured, embroidered and pleated by hand. Discover a range of 24 colours, each more beautiful than the last.
