Booking a ticket
Reservation via Internet
Thalys offers a range of different fares. These offers are accessible online and our search engine enables you to consult availabilities. In order to guarantee your comfort, reservations are required for Thalys trains.
Select your outbound station, destination, travel dates and comfort level.
The best rates will be displayed according to availabilities for the travel dates and times selected.
Besides usual Thalys fares, you can also take advantage of reductions if:
- you are a young person or senior citizen;
- you are travelling with children (even if they are not your own);
- you are a frequent traveller and you are a Lys member.
Tickets are available for sale 3 months before the date of travel.
By reserving early you can take advantage of the best Thalys fares.
Security
Ordering tickets on www.thalys.com is perfectly secure. Your payment details are protected by SSL V3 encryption, making transactions completely safe.
Secure sites are indicated with a padlock located at the bottom of the page. This means all banking information entered on Thalys.com is completely secure.
When paying online, the addresses used start with https:// (the 's' stand for secure): the data is encrypted and therefore protected before being transferred over the Internet.
This protocol is used by most banks and major online merchants. It provides maximum security for credit card numbers transmitted via the Internet.
Your credit card number will not be saved in the site’s sales history, which is an additional safeguard.

Overbooking
Some customers do not turn up at the time of departure which means that there are seats free on trains considered fully booked by our reservation system.
To compensate for this, certain seats can be offered as “overbooked” (with no guarantee of a seat or meal service in Comfort 1).
In this case, the ticket does not mention a carriage or seat number but is marked “seat subject to availability”.
(To limit overbooking and the inconvenience this may cause, these seats are only accessible for Librys, TCP and Lys fares).
