Amsterdam : Walks

Few hours in Nieuwe Zijde Quarter
The left hand side of Amsterdam's old city center, Nieuwe Zijde, extends from North to South, from the Central train station to Rokin and is bordered on the west by Singel. This neighborhood, impossible to miss by arrival by train, spreads around commercial thoroughfares such as Damrak and Nieuwendijk all the way to the Dam where both the royal palace and the Nieuwe Kerk are located. If you follow along Kalverstraat, you'll take a bit of distance from the large avenues and can better take advantage of smaller boutiques and cafes. Follow along Nes road to the ecclectic theater district and then take Warmoestraat to the elegant house on Oudezidjs Voorburgwal that houses the clandestine church better known as "God in the grainhouse."
