CAFE KANIS EN MEILAND

CAFE KANIS EN MEILAND

This cafe, on the Levantkade boardwalk on the KNSM (Royal Netherlands Company for Steamships) island, keeps more or less to its maritime theme. The interior is very colonial: club style armchairs and couches surrounded by green plants, paintings of ships and a waxed counter in the style of a ship's deck; billiards are set up in the middle. The island was originally built by the KNSM as a port to reflect the colonial strength of the Dutch.
