Belgium: Brussels
In a nutshell...
Known as the capital of comic strips, Brussels is also unique for its mix of modern buildings and Art Nouveau style homes.
An animated and festive city, it is not rare to witness a fanfare or a parade in the Grand Place nor is it uncommon to see the Mannekenpis being adomed in a new costume; Brussels is a city for walking.
The city is spread out, with 19 districts depicting many different faces of the capital. Ixelles is famous for its nightlife, where Saint-Gilles, particularly the Maison Horta, is popular with those who are interested in Art Nouveau.
Truly European in character, Brussels offers all the Belgian specialities, from beer to waffles, but Italian and French dishes are also popular. This is a city where everyone can find something of interest.

"It's not only rock'n' roll, baby!"
From Monday, June 18 2007 to Sunday, September 14 2008
Brussels rockin 'n' rollin' the night away...
It's not only Rock 'n' Roll, baby! is a unique, electric art exhibition which exposes another side of Rock - artists born into the art world who became musicians.
Over 20 recognised musicians will be gathered together for the first time to discuss and display their artwork (from Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, Brian Eno and Lou Reed, to Chicks on Speed, Fischerspooner, Devendra Banhart, Cocorosie and Pete Doherty, without forgetting Alan Vega, David Byrne, etc.).
This is not a school of thought but simply a group of artists that deal with expression in their own ways, considering art and music to be two sides of the same coin - these artists show us two indivisible forms of expression in a fresh light.
It's not only Rock 'n' Roll, baby! is also an art book that defies categorisation and fits somewhere between Rolling Stone magazine and a coffee-table book - the work is full of exclusive interviews and photographs of artwork.
From Wednesday 18 June to Sunday 14 September 2008 :
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00
- Thursday from 10:00 to 21:00
